How to Download Netflix Personal Information

Introduction

Netflix logs every click you’ve made, the date and time of every video you’ve watched, everything you’ve searched for in the service, and much more. And while you can’t access that information directly within the Netflix website or app, you can request that Netflix pull that information together for you so that you can download it in the CSV format, which can be viewed in Excel, LibreOffice, or whatever application you use to view spreadsheets.

Some of the images associated with the steps are included inline below. All images associated with these steps can be seen in the embedded YouTube video. Steps to Download Netflix Personal Information

  1. Open a web browser, navigate to Netflix.com, and then log into your Netflix account if prompted. You’ll land on your Netflix home screen. Again, as a reminder, you can only download your Netflix viewing history through the Netflix website and not through the Netflix mobile app for iPhone, iPad, Android or any other devices.
  2. Click your profile picture at the top of the screen to open a drop-down menu, and then click “Account.”

  1. Scroll down to the Settings section, and then click “Download Your Personal Information.” The Request a Copy of Your Information screen is shown.

  1. Click “Submit Request.” A message telling you to check your email to verify your request is displayed.

  1. Open the email account associated with your Netflix account, open the email from Netflix with Confirm Your Request as the subject line, and then click “Confirm Request” in the body of that message. You’ll be routed back to your Netflix account, where you’ll see a dialog box prompting you to enter your password to confirm your request. A message will be displayed that your request to download your personal information from Netflix is in progress. As a note, it can take Netflix up to 30 days to make your personal information available to you. In this example, it only took Netflix two days to prepare my information.

  1. Monitor the email associated with your Netflix account for a message from Netflix letting you know that your download is ready. Open that message and then click “Get Information” in the body. You’ll be taken to the Netflix website where you’ll be prompted to confirm your Netflix account password.

  1. Enter your Netflix account password in the dialog box, and then click “Continue.” A Save As dialog box will be shown prompting you to download your Netflix report as a ZIP file. Choose where you want to download this ZIP file, and then click “Save” to download the file.

Within the contents of the ZIP file you’ll find folders containing spreadsheets you can use to see your account information in the Account folder; devices that have been connected to your Netflix account in the Devices folder; your billing history in the Payment and Billing folder; your Netflix viewing history and search history in the Content Interaction folder, and more.
