While you’re trapped at home, Amazon Prime has rolled out a new Watch Party feature that still makes it possible for you to watch movies with your friends. Amazon Prime Video Watch Party lets you invite up to 100 other Amazon Prime members to watch a movie with you. The host has the ability to play, pause and scrub though the movie at any time, and users can all chat in a side menu. The only caveat is that the only option for people to either initiate or join a Prime Video watch party at this time is through a web browser. Examples of all instructions in the steps can be seen in both the YouTube video above and the image collection located beneath the steps.
Steps to Use Amazon Prime Video Watch Party
- Open a web browser, navigate to Amazon.com, and then click to launch “Prime Video.”
- Click to open the information screen for the movie you want to start a Prime Video watch party for, and then click “Watch Party” on the information screen. The Let’s Start a Watch Party screen is shown.
- Enter the name you want to use in the Amazon Prime Video Watch Party chat, and then click “Create Watch Party.” The Invite Friends screen is displayed.
- Click “Share” in the Link section, and then choose one of those methods for sharing a link to your Amazon Prime Video watch party to invite other people. You can also copy the link and send it through other platforms, such as Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp. As a reminder, anyone you invite will have to access your watch party through a web browser and they will have to have an Amazon Prime account. Additionally, you can only invite up to 100 people. After everyone has entered the party you can use the onscreen controls to start playing the movie. You can also use the Chat section to chat with your friends.
