Introduction
The audio waveform not displaying in your Shotcut audio track makes it really hard to work in the video editor. A common cause of missing audio waveforms in Shotcut is the high performance waveform feature that’s enabled by default. As a result, if you’re stuck staring at a blank audio track in Shotcut, a simple solution is to disable the high performance waveforms feature.

Steps to Turn Off High Performance Waveforms in Shotcut
- Launch Shotcut and then open the video file you’re editing together.
- Navigate down to the timeline, and then right click an audio block on the left side of the timeline. A context menu is displayed.
- Click “Options” in this menu. Another expanded menu is shown.
- Click to remove the check mark from the “Use Higher Performance Waveforms” option. Your audio waveforms should now be displayed again.
