How to Turn Off High Performance Waveforms in Shotcut

Introduction

The audio waveform not displaying in your Shotcut audio track makes it really hard to work in the video editor. A common cause of missing audio waveforms in Shotcut is the high performance waveform feature that’s enabled by default. As a result, if you’re stuck staring at a blank audio track in Shotcut, a simple solution is to disable the high performance waveforms feature.

Steps to Turn Off High Performance Waveforms in Shotcut

  1. Launch Shotcut and then open the video file you’re editing together.
  2. Navigate down to the timeline, and then right click an audio block on the left side of the timeline. A context menu is displayed.
  3. Click “Options” in this menu. Another expanded menu is shown.

  1. Click to remove the check mark from the “Use Higher Performance Waveforms” option. Your audio waveforms should now be displayed again.
