Introduction
The Memories and Featured photos feature on your iPhone or iPad is a great way to review your photos. However, the photos that get displayed are random, and having a private photo pop up is embarrassing. Thankfully, Apple makes it easy to stop your iPhone or iPad from showing random photos in this widget. To turn off this feature you must be using either iOS 16 for iPhone or iPadOS 16 for iPad.

- Open the “Settings” app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Scroll down this screen until you see Photos and then tap “Photos.”
- Scroll down this screen until you get to the Memories and Featured Photos section, and then tap to turn off the toggle next to “Show Featured Content.” Going forward random photos will no longer be displayed in either the Memories and Featured Photos widget, or the Photos app on your iPhone or iPad.
