Steps to Stop Amazon Alexa from Asking You to Buy Stuff

  1. Launch the Amazon Alexa app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. You’ll land on your Alexa home screen.
  2. Tap the “More” icon in the menu along the bottom of the screen to open a menu.
  3. Tap “Settings” in this menu.
  4. Tap “Notifications” in this menu.
  5. Tap “Amazon Shopping” in this list.
  6. Scroll down this screen until you get to the Shopping Recommendations section. This is where you’ll see options for how you receive personalized recommendations based on your shopping activity. Specifically, you’ll see options to receive recommendations for deal recommendations and reorder recommendations.
  7. If you don’t want to receive these recommendations from your Amazon Alexa device, which will stop Amazon from asking you to buy stuff, tap to turn off the toggle associated with the options in this section. Going forward you’ll no longer receive prompts from Amazon on your Alexa devices to buy things.
