Steps to Set ChatGPT SearchGPT as Default Search Engine in Google Chrome

1. First, you’ll want to make sure you have access to ChatGPT’s SearchGPT feature. You can do this by either checking on your ChatGPT home screen, where you’ll see SearchGPT in the list of GPTs you’re using in the upper-left corner of your screen. Or, you can just navigate to ChatGPT.com/Search, where you’ll see a screen that looks like this if you have access to SearchGPT from OpenAI. Let’s move on to the next steps if you have access.
2. From the SearchGPT home screen you should see a link at the top of the screen that simply says “Set as Search Engine.” Click this link if you see it. You’ll land on the Google Chrome Web Store page for the SearchGPT Extension. You can also just navigate to the Chrome Web Store directly and search for “SearchGPT.” However, if you do this, be advised that there are a lot of extensions with SearchGPT in the title, and a lot of those use OpenAI’s ChatGPT icon and branding. Make sure you choose the SearchGPT extension, which should look similar to this, that’s developed by OpenAI. You can confirm the extension you’re using is developed by OpenAI by scrolling down to the Details section on the extension page, and looking at the Offered By and Developer sections, which should both indicate OpenAI is the creator.
3. Click “Add to Chrome” on this screen. A window pops up letting you know that the SearchGPT extension will be able to read and change your data on all ChatGPT.com sites, and also that it will change your search settings to ChatGPT.com.
4. Click “Add Extension.” Another small window pops up letting you know that SearchGPT has been added to Google Chrome.
