Enter the email address or username associated with your eBay account, and then choose “Continue.” The Help screen is displayed, where you’ll see a prompt for eBay to send you a security code through either your email address or a text message to your phone number, depending on the information you’ve supplied associated with your account.

Enter the code you were sent and then choose “Continue.” You’ll see a message on the next screen letting you know that eBay has confirmed your identity, and prompting you to enter a new password.

  1. Enter what you want to be your new eBay password, and then choose “Continue.”

  1. A screen with a congratulations message is shown, letting you know that your password has been successfully reset. Going forward you’ll use your new password whenever you’re prompted to log in to your eBay account.

Guidelines to Create a Strong Password

  • Use a long password: The longer your password, the harder it is to crack. Aim for a minimum of 12 characters.
  • Use a mix of characters: Use a combination of uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols. This makes your password more complex and harder to guess.
  • Avoid personal information: Avoid using personal information such as your name, birthdate, or address. This information can be easily guessed or found through social media.
  • Avoid common phrases and patterns: Avoid using common phrases or patterns such as “password,” “1234,” or “qwerty.” These are easy for hackers to guess.
  • Use a unique password for each account: Use a different password for each account. This way, if one password is compromised, your other accounts are still protected.
  • Consider using a passphrase: A passphrase is a sequence of words or a sentence. This can make a strong and memorable password.
  • Use a password manager: A password manager can generate and store strong passwords for you. This way, you don’t have to remember all of your unique passwords.
