How to Enable Protect Mail Activity on iPhone or iPad

Introduction

With the release of iOS 15 Apple is putting even more of an emphasis on personal security. One of the new features being rolled out is the ability for users to enable the Protect Mail Activity feature, which prevents companies from being able to see your IP address and track your activity through the use of pixels. This information is primarily used to better target you with ads, but it can be used for more nefarious purposes. Thankfully, turning on the Protect Mail Activity feature only takes a few minutes. Examples of all instructions in the steps can be seen in the YouTube video below.

Reasons to Consider Turning On Protect Mail Activity on iPhone or iPad

1. Privacy

Protecting your email activity is essential to safeguard your personal information. Enabling the “Protect Mail Activity” feature on your iPhone or iPad ensures that your email activity is hidden from prying eyes. This feature prevents anyone from seeing your emails, attachments, or email account details without your permission. This is particularly important if you use public Wi-Fi networks, as these are vulnerable to hacking attempts. By enabling this feature, you are adding an extra layer of protection to your online privacy.

2. Security

One of the primary reasons for enabling the “Protect Mail Activity” feature is to enhance the security of your email account. This feature can help prevent unauthorized access to your email account, which can lead to identity theft or data breaches. With the “Protect Mail Activity” feature enabled, you will be notified if there is any suspicious activity on your email account, such as login attempts from an unfamiliar device or location. This will give you a chance to take appropriate action, such as changing your password or contacting your email provider’s support team.

3. Control

When you enable the “Protect Mail Activity” feature, you gain greater control over your email account. This feature allows you to monitor your email activity and be aware of any unusual login attempts or suspicious activity. You can take prompt action to protect your account by changing your password or blocking access to your email account. This level of control is especially useful if you use your email account for work purposes or if you have sensitive information stored in your inbox.

4. Peace of mind

Knowing that your email account is secure and protected from potential threats can give you peace of mind. By enabling the “Protect Mail Activity” feature on your iPhone or iPad, you can rest assured that your email account is secure and that your privacy is protected. This feature provides an added layer of protection against hackers, phishing attacks, and other online threats. With your email account secure, you can focus on your work or personal life without worrying about the safety of your data.

5. Compliance

Finally, enabling the “Protect Mail Activity” feature can help you comply with certain data protection and privacy regulations. Some regulatory frameworks require specific security measures to be in place, such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union. By enabling this feature, you can ensure that your email account meets the necessary security requirements, which can help you avoid legal issues and potential fines. Additionally, this can help protect your customers’ personal information, which can build trust and credibility for your business.
