Introduction
The TikTok algorithm does a decent job of feeding you videos you’ll like. To align TikTok with your interests, indicate both liked and disliked videos. Thankfully, TikTok makes it relatively easy to indicate that you don’t like a video.

Steps to Dislike a TikTok Video
- Hold your finger against the screen while the TikTok video you want to dislike is playing. A menu pops up.
- Tap “Not Interested” if you want TikTok to show you fewer videos similar to this one.
Alternatively, tap “More” next to Not Interested if you want to see more specific options.
- In this menu you can choose whether you want to hide TikTok videos from this user, or hide videos on TikTok with the sound this video is using. Going forward, you selections will take effect.
3 Reasons to Dislike a TikTok Video
1. Improve Your Feed
Liking videos on TikTok signals the algorithm to show you more similar content. Disliking videos on TikTok is important for the same reasons. Disliking videos on TikTok signals the algorithm to not show similar content. The end result should be that you see more videos you’re likely to enjoy in your TikTok feed.
2. You Don’t Like The Song
TikTok can flood your feed with videos using a song that becomes popular. This can be great if you like the song and the videos that people build around it align with what you like. If that specific song or video doesn’t interest you, you may want to make those videos disappear. TikTok’s dislike feature makes it possible to indicate that you don’t like the song used in a video, which should result in you seeing far less of those videos in your feed.
3. You Don’t Like the Content Creator
Similar to the way certain songs can dominate TikTok for a moment, content creators can get big almost overnight and start taking over user feeds as well. Similar to the way you can use TikTok’s dislike feature to indicate you don’t like a particular song, you can use it to indicate that you don’t like a particular content creator. Telling TikTok you don’t like a creator will result in you being served fewer videos from that person.
