How to Disable iPhone or iPad Message Effects

Introduction

If you’re one of the large percentage of people who are sensitive to motion, getting a text message that floods your screen with text, slams the message onto your screen or some other animation can be unwelcome. Thankfully, Apple makes it easy to disable message effects on your iPhone or iPad. Examples of all instructions in the steps can be seen in the YouTube video below.

Steps to Disable iPhone or iPad Message Effects

  1. Launch the “Settings” app, and then scroll down and tap “Accessibility” in this menu.
  2. Tap “Motion” on the Accessibility screen.
  3. Tap to disable “Auto-Play Message Effects” to toggle it off. Any message effects that are sent to you going forward will no longer automatically play.
