Steps to Check Battery Health in Windows 11

  1. Navigate to your Windows 11 home screen, and then click the “Windows” icon on the taskbar.
  2. Type “Command Prompt” in the search box, and then click “Command Prompt” in the list of results.

  1. At the end of the Command Prompt, type: powercfg /batteryreport. You’ll see a note that the battery life report was saved to a specific file path. Copy this file path. I’d recommend copying the file path to either a Notepad or Word file.

  1. Launch File Explorer, and then paste the battery report file path into the file path bar at the top of this screen. The Battery Report file opens, where you’ll see your computer name, product name, BIOS version and more on the initial screen. As you scroll down through the report you’ll see an Installed Batteries section where you’ll see your design capacity and full charge capacity. You’ll also see a summary of your battery’s usage, the battery drain rate, your battery’s usage history, the battery capacity history, and your battery life estimate based on the current drain rate.
