How to Add Profile on Hulu

Introduction

If you have one Hulu profile shared between multiple people with different tastes, it can be difficult to find your favorites and shows you’re actively watching. Additionally, the recommendations in Hulu will be geared toward the group rather than specifically for you. One solution is to leverage Hulu profiles. Hulu lets you create up to six profiles for a single account. This will allow each user to have their own sub account that tracks their unique interests, favorites and shows watched, and as a result will present more relevant recommendations. In this article, I’ll show you how to add a Hulu profile in the Hulu mobile app on iPhone, iPad and Android, the Hulu.com website, and in the Hulu app on Roku. Examples of all instructions in the steps can be seen in both the YouTube video and images below.

Steps to Add Hulu Profile in Mobile App on iPhone, iPad or Android

1. Launch the Hulu mobile app on your iPhone, iPad or Android device. You’ll arrive at your Hulu home screen.
2. Tap the “Account” icon in the lower right corner of the screen. Your Hulu Account screen is displayed.

3. Tap the name of your account that appears at the top of the screen. The Switch Profile screen opens.

4. Tap “New Profile.” The Create a New Profile window appears.

5. Enter a profile name, and then use the Kids toggle to specify if this is an account for kids. Marking a profile as a kids profile means that all content available to someone using that profile will be kids-friendly content. If you mark the profile as a kids account, the Date of Birth and Gender fields will disappear. If you don’t mark this as a kids account, enter a date of birth and gender associated with the profile user.

6. Click “Create Profile” after entering the required information. You’ll be returned to the Switch Profile screen, where you’ll see your new profile is available for selection.

Steps to Add a Hulu Profile on Roku

1. Launch the Hulu app on your Roku device. You’ll arrive at your Hulu home screen.
2. Use the D-pad on the remote to select the icon associated with your Hulu profile in the upper left corner of the screen. This icon features a silhouette of a person. Your Hulu account screen appears.

3. Select “Profiles” in the list of options. The Profiles screen appears.

4. Choose “New Profile.” The Create a New Profile screen appears.

5. Enter a profile name, and then use the Kids toggle to specify if this is an account for kids. Marking a profile as a kids profile means that all content available to someone using that profile will be kids-friendly content. If you mark the profile as a kids account, the Date of Birth and Gender fields will disappear. If you don’t mark this as a kids account, enter a date of birth and gender associated with the profile user. Click “Create Profile” after entering the required information. A screen appears telling you that you need to personalize your Hulu profile.

6. Select “Choose Interests” on this screen. After selecting at least three interests and three movie and show types, click “Finish.” You’ll return to your Hulu home screen, where your newly-created profile will be the active profile.

Steps to Add a Hulu Profile on Hulu.com

1. Open your web browser, navigate to Hulu.com, and log in to your account if prompted. You’ll arrive at your Hulu.com home screen.
2. Hold your cursor over your Hulu profile name that appears in the upper right corner of the screen to display a menu. Click “Manage Profiles” in the menu. The Hulu Manage Your Account screen appears.

3. Select the “Profiles” tab at the top of this screen, and then click “Add Profile” in the Select a Profile to Edit section. The Create a New Profile window appears.

4. Enter a profile name, and then use the Kids toggle to specify if this is an account for kids. Marking a profile as a kids profile means that all content available to someone using that profile will be kids-friendly content. If you mark the profile as a kids account, the Date of Birth and Gender fields will disappear. If you don’t mark this as a kids account, enter a date of birth and gender associated with the profile user. Click “Create Profile” after entering the required information. You’ll be routed to a page where you can choose the interests associated with your newly created profile.

5. Click “Next” in the lower right corner of the page after choosing the interests associated with your new profile. You’ll be routed to the Hulu home page with your newly created profile as the active profile.
